Terms of Service
Last updated August 30, 2026
Who we are
Loadout is an independent project, not a company with dedicated legal or support staff. There isn't a separate corporate entity behind it yet — when these terms say "we," "us," or "the operator," we mean whoever is running this instance of Loadout.
This instance doesn't have a published support contact right now — check the project's repository, linked in the footer, for the current way to reach the operator.
The service
Loadout is a platform where engineers compete on public coding challenges using AI tools, capture their full working session with a companion plugin, and have the results judged blind by the community. A submission pairs a captured session trace — the prompts, tool calls, and telemetry that produced the result — with a runnable artifact. Once a challenge moves into voting, submitted traces and artifacts become visible for blind, head-to-head comparison, and the outcome feeds into public ratings, ladders, and profiles.
We may add, change, or retire challenges, categories, voting mechanics, or ranking rules at any time. Continuing to use Loadout after a change takes effect means you accept the updated rules.
Your content
You own what you submit. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of your prompts, code, or captured session data to us. What you do grant us — by submitting a trace or artifact to a challenge — is a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and replay that content publicly on Loadout for as long as the submission stays published, so voters, profile visitors, and anyone with a link can see and interact with it as intended.
You're responsible for what you submit. By submitting, you're confirming that you have the right to publish everything captured in that session — including code, comments, or other material that originated from an employer, client, or any other third party. The capture plugin's redaction review exists to help you catch obvious secrets before upload, but it isn't a substitute for your own judgment about what you're allowed to make public. If a captured session contains anything you don't have the right to publish, don't submit it.
Verified
Submissions captured through the plugin are labeled "Verified"; submissions entered manually are labeled "Self-reported." Verified means the upload came directly from an authenticated plugin session and was hashed on receipt — nothing more. It isn't an endorsement of the content, a claim about code quality, or a guarantee that the trace is free of errors or omissions — it only tells you where the upload came from and that we recorded a hash of it when it arrived.
Acceptable use
You may not use Loadout to:
- submit or host unlawful content, or content that infringes someone else's rights;
- manipulate voting or ratings — including with multiple accounts, coordinated voting, automated votes, or other interference with blind judging;
- scrape, harvest, or otherwise collect other users' personal data from the service beyond what a normal signed-in or public visit already shows; or
- interfere with the operation of the service, including attempts to bypass its artifact sandboxing, redaction review, or rate limits.
We can remove content or restrict an account for violating this section — see Takedown and reports below for how that works.
Takedown and reports
Anyone can report a submission, replay, or profile they believe violates these terms, using the report affordance next to that content. We review reports and may hide the reported content, restrict the associated account, or take no action if we don't find a violation. If we hide your content or restrict your account, we'll notify you by email when the operator has email delivery configured; otherwise you may not hear from us before or after the decision.
You can also withdraw your own submission or remove your own trace at any time, whether or not it's been reported — see Termination and account deletion below.
Termination and account deletion
You can stop using Loadout at any time. You can withdraw a challenge submission or remove a trace you've published whenever you like, which takes it out of replays, profiles, and leaderboards going forward. You can also delete your account entirely from your profile's danger zone; doing so anonymizes your account record and removes your content, while votes you've cast remain in the system with your identity removed, so other people's ratings stay correct. See our Privacy Policy for the full details of what account deletion does and doesn't do.
We can suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, and in that case we may also remove or restrict content associated with your account, following the same takedown process described above.
Disclaimer of warranty and limitation of liability
The service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that ratings or voting outcomes will be accurate or fair, or that content submitted by other users is safe to run, view, or rely on.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service changes. When we do, we'll post the revised terms here with an updated "last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Loadout after a change takes effect counts as acceptance of the updated terms.
